Dr. Parker Scott Burtis

First off, we (Scott, Monica, Chase, Kassondra and Talitha) want to thank you for taking the time to stop by Parker's site. Whether you were one of Parker's best friends, classmates, relatives, or someone he met once whose life he might have briefly impacted, if you're stopping by to grab a quick listen to one of his songs that is posted or just want to leave a note with a story, we want to sincerely thank you!

Parker's love of music started early on in his life. From the time he started playing trumpet in the band, to just jamming to some tunes with any one of his siblings, music has always held a special place in his heart. Once he began his freshman year at St. John's University, Parker made making friends seem like a walk in the park. After seeing how some of his friends were already very talented at the acoustic guitar, he was hooked. Over one of his first holiday breaks from school back home in Fairmont, MN, he asked his dad to teach him some cords. Little did Scott know, he and Monica would be hearing Jimmy Buffet's "Margaritaville" on repeat until 3:00 in the morning.

From learning those first few cords, Parker brought a guitar back up to school with him and taught himself the rest, asking advice from friends along the way. Parker wrote his first CD in 2009, surprising his family and a few close friends with a surprise gift for Christmas! One of his songs in particular stood out to everyone that let the record roll. "Be My Girl Tonight" is a fun, catchy song that he wrote himself and is one that was requested of him every time he picked up his guitar. Thanks to some help from his cousin, Shawn, we recently had a few extra instruments added to the original version, as we knew Parker had always wanted a little something to make the song more complete. Another song that is a family favorite is called "Whaddya Say". Some of you might remember hearing it played during his funeral at St. John Vianney Church. It's a song about living life, talking to Jesus and growing your faith. Towards the end of the song, Parker ironically wrote the bridge about making your way to Heaven and your final prayer before passing on being about meeting Jesus face to face. It's a special song that we as a family also wanted to put a couple more instruments on and share with all of you.

There are more songs we will be adding to the website in the future. For now, enjoy these two.

Please, if you feel inclined to leave a message do so below. It can be about a story of you and Parker, how he had an impact on your life, how his music has touched you or what it means to you, or just a quick hello!

From Scott, Monica, Chase, Kassondra, Talitha... and of course Parker, thanks for stopping by.

God Bless!
